Fallout 4 Dlc Esm Files

This post will address how to edit the Fallout 4 DLC ESM files for Xbox One. First, open up Fallout 4 on your Xbox One. The game should be in its default location of C:\\Users\\userid\\Documents\\My Games\\Fallout4\\. Now go into the subdirectory \\Data\\. You’ll see two subdirectories labeled with letters, DLC and USVRoot. We are interested in USVRoot right now, so navigate into it and you’ll see a series of files with .esm extensions (i.e., .esm; Fallout4 - Main_ESM). These are the actual DLC files. You can now use a program such as Notepad++ to edit these files as you would any other .esm file. Changes made should be saved as a .patch file and then merged into one of the DLC ESM files by going into Edit Mode and saving the modified file as a new file or just renaming it. Finally, rename or copy your new .esm back to the folder \\Data\\USVRoot\\Fallout4\\ESM\\. If you do not have access to Notepad++, you can still edit Fallout 4’s DLC ESM files by using a file manager such as X-plorer2 Lite. The process is a little more involved, requiring you to extract the contents of an .esm and repackage them in a new .esm file. File managers such as X-plorer2 Lite have built-in functionality for extracting files from archives. You can add the DLC ESM files to your archive by right-clicking on one of them and selecting Extract Here from the context menu. Once you have extracted all the files from the DLC ESM, use File Manager to create a new folder that will serve as your destination folder for creating a patch file. In this case it should be titled something like NewFallout4MainESM and should be placed in \\Documents\\My Games\\Fallout4\\. From there, navigate to the \\Data\\USVRoot\\Fallout4\\ESM folder and then into your newly created folder. Create a new .patch file using Notepad++ and name it NewFallout4MainESM.esp. If you wish, you can rename this file to NewFallout4MainESM.esm or copy it back into the proper DLC ESM folder. Rename or move your patch file back to the proper directory by navigating to \\Data\\USVRoot\\Fallout4\\. Next, go back to X-plorer2 Lite and extract the contents of your new .esm file from your new patch file in \\Documents\\My Games\\. Navigate into your original .esm file and select all the files and folders inside it (i.e., the DLC ESM and any BSAs and dependencies).  Right click and select Delete. Now we’ll repackage all the files we deleted into a new patch .esp file. Right-click on what you now have, named something like 00000000.esm, select Edit Mode, then Save as New File. In your new .esp’s directory, right click the folder you just created for this .esp file and select Rename from its context menu. Rename this folder to match your new patch file’s name (i.e. eccc085e13
